The inaugural African Music and Cultural Festival is a free event open to all Australians and visitors to Australia to experience vibrant music, arts and cultural performances of African heritage will be showcased to encourage cross-cultural awareness as well foster intercultural relationships, community contributions, mutual respect, understanding and community unity in Victoria.

It will bring together the community of African Australians to celebrate their culture, heritage and businesses e.g. there will be opportunities for business owners within the African Australian Community to display showcase their business at stalls strategically located at Fed Square.

This family friendly event will feature African inspired fashion and sumptuous cuisine and will be attended by African Australians and their community leaders from over 40 African countries as well as representatives from the three tiers of government, n-governmental organisations and community leaders.

There will be stalls available at the Fed Square River Terrace for African Australian businesses; government agencies such as the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Australia Federal Police, Victoria Police, Customs and Border Protection; and non-governmental agencies and businesses to hire during the event to take advantage of this unique opportunity to connect with African Australian communities.

This event is presented by the Nigerian Society of Victoria Incorporated in partnership with the African Communities and organisations in Victoria including the Africa Think Tank, Africa Day, Africa Australian Student Organisation, Somali Community, Ghanaian Community, Ethiopian community to name a few.
